A Ferrari driver who crashed the high-powered car and killed his girlfriend had a shocking driving record in the years before the fatal crash.
Mark Dimech pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death over the crash on Avon Rd at Cockatoo, east of Melbourne, in July 2017.
He was going 82km/h at the bend despite an advisory sign warning drivers to slow down to 45km/h per hour at the corner, the court was told. The speed limit for the road was 70 km/h. The driver was “inconsolable” and told emergency workers “I can’t live, I can’t live,” Mr Toohey said.
