Shane Purssell Akehurst stood in Brisbane’s Supreme Court dock this morning and pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his little boy, Corby Mitchell Akehurst, on 27 March 2015.
The Kin Kin father also pleaded guilty to his torture, on dates between 13 November 2014 and 26 March 2015. Corby Akehurst was almost two years old when his father killed him by throwing him into a timber bed with force with “probably everything I had” in anger.Akehurst initially told police and paramedics that he put Corby down for an afternoon nap and went outside.
He heard a noise and went back inside finding his child stiff as if having a seizure. The 37-year-old began CPR and called triple zero.
