UPDATE: The man’s sister identified him as Darnell Wilson, 44 — a father of three children.
The Sheriff’s Office said police and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel responded shortly before 9 a.m. to Roanoke Boulevard, just east of Sibbald Road, after someone in the neighborhood called 911.The man’s sister, Melanese, identified him as Darnell Wilson, 44 — a father of three children, ages 6, 15 and 21. She said she was waiting outside the area of the crime scene for hours, waiting for answers.Wilson’s sister described her brother as a giving person.
“He was a very generous, lovable, very funny character,” she said. “He loved to rank and tease and aggravate all the babies. Loved basketball, football.”“This will not go in vain,” she said. No description of the shooter has been released. Investigators also noted the presence of blood outside the home.
