A father is imploring New South Wales Premier Chris Minns to adopt legislation he and his wife created to confiscate knives off the streets following his son's death.
Brett Beasley implores NSW Premier Chris Minns to adopt Jack's Law to reduce weapons such as knives on the street
The two incidents led to Brett and Belinda Beasley, the father and mother of Jack, to create Jack's Law which they convinced the Queensland government to legislate. Mr Beasley told SkyNews.com.au that Mr Minns must consider legislating Jack's Law, following the incidents at Westfield Bondi Junction and the Sydney church stabbing.
"Everyone agrees to that because no one wants to get on a plane with an armed person sitting behind them so why can’t we do that on trains?" Mr Beasley added. "We want our kids to be safe. We want our children to be able to go to the beautiful beaches we have, to go to parks, to go to shopping centres."
Asked to comment on Jack’s Law, a spokeswoman for Ms Catley pointed SkyNews.com.au to her comments from Thursday when the minister said at a press conference, alongside the NSW Premier, that “we will not close the door on anything”.
