Dr. Fauci bemoans ‘extreme’ divide that led to lopsided COVID-19 deaths
Dr. Anthony Fauci bemoaned the political divide in the country and faulted"extreme" politics for lopsided COVID-19 deaths.
Fauci is poised to step down from his position as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden later this month. He has helmed NIAID since 1984. The doctor had also served on former President Donald Trump's COVID-19 task force.
Conservatives seethed at some of the pandemic suppression measures, such as lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine requirements, and blamed him for some of those policies. Fauci frequently vented that he was merely championing the science.
