In the third round of the playoffs, two district teams faced off, giving a sign of how strong FBCA's district is.

First Baptist's Dustin Denny guards Westbury Christian's Charles Gipson for some last-minute work. As the scoreboard indicates, the third round of the TAPPS state playoffs didn't go well for the Warriors at St. Thomas University Saturday.HOUSTON - How in the heck did Westbury Christian finish in second place in Pasadena First Baptist Christian Academy's district?

What few times Westbury Christian committed boo-boos, it was mostly their doing or they got too cute with the ball. There was one moment when a Wildcat player appeared ready to score easily. But he elected to pass to a teammate behind him, who then passed to a third teammate and that player missed the goal.

Right off the bat, the Warriors missed a series of looks right there at the rim that could have been the first score of the game. Not that those misfires mattered, but it certainly didn't help the confidence. For the game, the Warriors were 11-of-40 and just 1-of-3 from the line. Westbury Christian was 10-of-14. From the field, the team was 27-of-50.

FBCA committed 25 turnovers, was outrebounded 23-15 and didn't have anyone score in double figures. Dylan Guillory came the closest, scoring nine points. Micah Fogg followed with seven but the Warriors' tallest player fouled out with still three minutes to play in the third period.
