The FDA and the CDC greenlight booster shots of Pfizer-BioNTech's Covid vaccine for 16-and 17-year-olds
On Thursday, the FDA announced that it is expanding the emergency use authorization of the Covid vaccine developed by Pfizer & BioNTech to allow for booster shots in 16 and 17-year-olds. The decision followsThere’s been a renewed urgency for booster shots in the face of rising Covid cases worldwide as well as the spread of the omicron variant.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla priased the FDA’s decision in a statement. “Today’s decision by the FDA to further expand the Emergency Use Authorization of a booster dose of our COVID-19 vaccine is a critical milestone as we continue to stay vigilant in addressing the virus.”
