With thousands of Australians flying to and from Bali each week, questions remain about their potential risk of exposure to the coronavirus after a study found it was statistically unlikely the virus was not in Indonesia

"It's entirely possible, you might even say likely, that there is undetected coronavirus there," Professor Clements said.

"Their ability to contain it, if it's there, is going to be much weaker ... and I would seriously question [Indonesia's] ability to mount as effective a public health response as the Chinese government has." Australians arriving in Denpasar on Tuesday expressed confidence in Indonesian government processes and were pressing ahead with their holidays.Melbourne woman Barbara O'Donnell said she had booked her flight to Bali only a week ago, despite the virus having been reported in most countries in south-east Asia.

"I am not worried. I am sure if they, the government, have someone sick [with coronavirus] they would have reported it, as it's a matter of public health. I am here for a week. I packed a hand sanitiser, that's it." Melbourne woman Amanda Jones, travelling with her partner Simon Jones, said "I am a little concerned that Indonesia has not reported a single case when we even have it in Australia. But we're not concerned enough to cancel our holiday. We have hand sanitiser with us"We keep one [half of the card] with us, in case we get sick during our trip," she said.
