Marine experts fear the world's most famous white whale Migaloo could be dead after an albino whale carcass washed ashore at Mallacoota in eastern Victoria. 9News

The albino whale has been missing for two years after losing his tracking chip.Wildlife scientists believe the location of the whale lines up with Migaloo's migration pattern.Authorities have been notified, however, they will not be able to confirm it is Migaloo until the whale is examined.

Wildlife scientist Dr Vanessa Pirotta who is part of the team investigating the incident said at this stage "we don't know if it is Migaloo". "If this does turn out to be Migaloo, which we do not know at this stage, this is like finding a needle in a haystack," Dr Pirotta told 9News.
