Thirty-six separate tornados have ripped through the midwest of the United States with fears the death toll could rise above 100 after a candle factory was destroyed with 110 people inside.
The US National Weather Service has said there have been 36 separate tornados have spread across 322 kilometres of the Midwest of the country with a candle factory, fire and police stations destroyed in Mayfield, Kentucky.
“I promise you, whatever is needed, whatever is needed, the federal government is going to find a way to provide it,” Mr Biden said during a press conference.“To lose a loved one in a storm like this is an unimaginable tragedy,” he tweeted. "We were pretty sure that we would lose over 50 Kentuckians. I'm now certain that number is north of 70. It may, in fact, end up exceeding 100 before the day is done."
Kentucky State Police Trooper Sarah Burgess admitted they could not confirm the official death toll with officers still working to find people in the rubble.
