Mark McGowan will land in China for a five-day trade mission, which he says is about strengthening WA's relationship with its largest trading partner.
, Mr McGowan said there was no need for Australians to be fearful.
Mr McGowan has previously criticised the eastern states for not appreciating China's contribution to Australia's economic success."Getting on with your customers is an important thing, so that's why having a good relationship with our customers, whoever they are – China, Japan, Korea, India – is important and that's why I'm going [to China]," he said.
He is also expected to meet with businesses, especially those involved in iron ore, Chinese and Australian businesspeople, airlines and Chinese government ministers. Mr McGowan last year celebrated the launch of direct flights between Perth and Rome, and wants to see more airlines flying into WA.
