Marquis Smallwood, 21, was arrested Wednesday morning by members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. Police did not say where Smallwood was apprehended. He is being held in the Lorain County Jail.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of West 45th Place at about 10 p.m. on May 10, according to police. Officers were told that the 22-year-old victim, Jeffery Reed of Lorain, was taken to Lorain Mercy Hospital in a private vehicle. Reed died at the hospital. Smallwood was treated and released at the hospital that evening, but police did not indicate he was a suspect at that time.
