The government shelved its promised environment protection agency in February, which Albanese said was because the government didn't have the numbers in the Senate to get it passed."We can have two options because of the way the rebates work: you can either just give them to people who are welfare recipients or you can give them to all Australians," he said.
So, while Smith says budgets aren't often big vote swayers, they can be useful for parties so close to an election.That included everything from high grocery and power bills, to feeling like it’s harder than ever to buy a home.
