Independent Senator Rex Patrick says it will be hard for Labor to counter the government’s budget because it will feature many social issues. The aged care sector is set to receive a transformational $18 billion package in tomorrow night's federal budget.

The major cash boost responds to the damning findings of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and will be used to address the needs of the distressed sector. “There’s a lot of really good features that have been announce thus far,” Mr Patrick told Sky News. “But of course we need to look at the entire release of the budget.”
