In his final moments, on a sunny and humid Friday morning, Jamie Faith stepped out the front door of his Oak Cliff home with his wife and their dog for their...
Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to sentence Jennifer Faith to life in prison for manipulating a high school flame to murder her husband, an American Airlines executive, so she could cash in on the life insurance benefits and continue her affair.
Less than a minute later, the man approached Jamie from behind and shot him seven times with a .45-caliber handgun — three times in the head, three in the torso and once in the groin. Jamie died in the street. A neighbor’s security camera captured the sound of the ambush. Another neighbor snapped a photo of the killer’s pickup speeding away.
While she appeared to grieve her husband’s murder in public, Jennifer Faith privately had phone sex with his killer and shared with him her bondage and sadomasochistic fantasies, court records show. Friends donated thousands of dollars to a GoFundMe page, but her distraught daughter never saw a dime. Instead, Jennifer spent it on lavish gifts for Lopez as the two planned a new life together, authorities said. The Faith Family.
Jamie and Jennifer met in Phoenix on Oct. 8, 2005, on a blind date — almost exactly 15 years before his murder. While her husband ascended the corporate ranks at American, Jennifer worked as regional director of an inpatient rehab hospital beginning in 2012. She described her marriage at Jamie’s funeral as an “amazing, perfect life.” She said they were the couple everyone hated because “we were too perfect, and we loved that we had the relationship that everyone else wanted.”
By December 2019, Lopez had sunk into depression and was facing the prospect of losing his home in an ugly divorce. He was, he would later tell police, “in a very dark place.” In an attempt to rebound, Lopez began reaching out to old friends on social media. One of them was Jennifer Faith. But she lied to Lopez about her marriage, telling him Jamie was “physically and sexually abusing her.” She created a fake email account to pose as Jamie and used it to taunt Lopez with graphic details of torture and abuse — of locking her in a closet, forcing her head underwater and watching numerous men rape her.
“The shot to the groin was retaliation for the sexual abuse Lopez thought Jamie was inflicting upon the defendant,” Calvert said. In a TV interview, she talked about the “distinctive” sticker on the rear window of the suspect’s truck. Two days later, she sent Lopez a text, telling him to remove the sticker. He did.
