'No one should be treated the way the officer was last night'
Police say officers were responding to a report of a domestic incident in the Comber area in the early hours of this morning, April 12. A man, aged 44, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a number of offences.
Chief Inspector Trevor Atkinson said: "Officers responded to the 999 call shortly before 12.15am and while attempting to arrest the suspect, one of the officers was assaulted, and attended hospital for injuries to their arm and shoulder."The man was arrested on suspicion of assault on police, resisting police, criminal damage and disorderly behaviour."Assaults on police are completely unacceptable and must not be tolerated as simply being ‘part of the job’.
