Mason Mount and Andre Onana were Man United's first two major summer signings but the pair have endured differing starts to life at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes believes Andre Onana's strong personality will be crucial to his success at Manchester United as he looks to succeed the long-serving David de Gea.

Erik ten Hag's insistence on signing Onana was due in part to the former Ajax man's quality on possession, while the first few weeks at Old Trafford have seen his shot-stopping tested. But as well as technical qualities, Fernandes knows how much mental strength it takes to play in goal for United. While Onana's first few months at United have been a success, things for Mason Mount have been much more difficult. The 24-year-old arrived in a £55m deal from Chelsea at the start of the summer but is yet to find form, missing the last two games against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal due to injury.

"Mason is a quality player," the Reds captain added. "He brings a lot of energy, quality, and ability. Everyone knows what he's capable of but his energy and hard work talks for itself.
