The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be played across three continents and six countries marking a major change for the tournament.

FIFA on Thursday confirmed Morocco, Spain and Portugal were the sole candidates for the 2030 tournament while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each a game.

President Gianni Infantino said the unique format would celebrate the 100 year history of the World Cup. Morocco, Spain and Portugal tabled the only bid to host the 2030 World Cup and will be officially confirmed by the FIFA Congress in 2024. Mr Infantino said the new model where three countries will be the primary hosts of the World Cup will give fans a new experience.

FIFA's announcement on Thursday also revealed the bidding process for the 2034 tournament would be conducted concurrently with the 2030 iteration.
