FIFA has suspended Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales while it initiates disciplinary action for kissing Jenni Hermoso in the aftermath of her side's victory in the Women's World Cup.
In a statement on Sunday, football's governing body said it was provisionally suspending Mr Rubiales"from all football-related activities at national and international level."
Mr Rubiales also insisted the kiss was"mutual and with the consent" of Hermoso, with RFEF now threatening legal action against the player for what it describes as"lies" about the incident. "He fully trusts Fifa and reiterates that, in this way, he is given the opportunity to begin his defence so that the truth prevails and his complete innocence is proven," the RFEF said.
A total of 81 Spanish players, including the winning team, have announced they will not play again until the RFEF president is removed, while Sunday also saw a mass walkout of Spain's coaching staff in response to the scandal.
