Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says inflation came in hotter than expected after Woolworths’ first quarterly sales recorded $13.08 billion.
"First quarter Australian food sales were $13.08 billion; that’s up 6.4 per cent and in a normal year that would be super strong,” Mr Greenwood said“But its price rises or inflation if you like that contributed to every bit of that sales growth,” he said.“People paid more but got less, understandably, that leads to unhappy shoppers.”
