A man in Fiji has been charged with sexual assault and rape after allegedly attacking a 21-year-old Virgin Australia flight attendant following New Year's Eve celebrations. Another crew member reported being robbed and assaulted outside the same nightclub. Virgin Australia says it is focused on the wellbeing of its staff, and the crew members have returned home to Australia.
A man who Fiji police allege sexually assaulted a Virgin Australia crew member has been remanded in custody after facing court for the first time.
Virgin Australia said it was aware of an incident and its focus was the wellbeing of staff. The crew members, their families and the Virgin Australia support staff have all returned home to Australia.Bar One management distanced itself from both incidents, saying the alleged sexual assault and robbery did not take place inside the popular establishment.
“We appreciate the support of our loyal customers during this time, and we remain committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who walks through our doors.”The incident comes two weeks after a group of tourists, including four Australians, fell ill after drinking pina coladas at the Warwick Fiji resort on the coral coast.The cause of the illness is unclear, with no methanol detected during testing of the drinks.
