An e-scooter is believed to have sparked a fire which destroyed a unit in Sydney's south-west where a young family were forced to evacuate with their baby.

Just before 12pm on Thursday, Fire and Rescue NSW were called to a unit block on Hoxton Park Road in Liverpool to find smoke billowing from the fourth floor of the unit.The couple and their baby were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by paramedics, but did not need to be taken to hospital.

Offer ends 31 October, 2023 "When fire fighters arrived they found a young family self evacuated from their unit on the 4th floor after it had filled with smoke," FRNSW wrote in a statement on Friday morning.
