The second of two weeks of early voting in Florida ends on Sunday in Jacksonville, Bradford County and at one site in Gainesville.
Voters in five local counties can now early vote. The polls opened in Duval, Alachua, Bradford, Flagler and Puntam counties earlier this morning. As of Saturday morning, more than 1.8 million Floridians had voted early and 2.4 million mail-in ballots had been received, according to theVote-by-mail ballots must be received at the elections office by Election Day -- but officials say it’s too late to count on them being delivered by mail. They can be dropped in secure drop boxes inside any early voting site in Jacksonville, but only during the hours they are open.
Jacksonville voters will also select the next sheriff in a special election and some residents west of the St. Johns River will pick a new city council member to replace a council member who resigned to run for another office.You’ve probably heard this term in national election coverage and may have wondered about it. They’re called midterm elections because it’s basically halfway through a presidential term.
