We found two winners from that test, both from OXO. But, we thought maybe after a few years, this simple device could have gotten an update. This month, we tested the original two winners against two new models. This is a safety can opener. This means that instead of a cutting wheel that cuts through the top of the can, around the edges of the lid, this can opener attaches to the sides of the can and cuts along the body. This type of can opener produces less-sharp edges, and the lid is easier and more convenient to remove.
Speaking of the knob on the side, the OXO crank is large and soft, making it very user-friendly. The cutting wheel stays adhered to the can, and the wheel is easy to turn. You don't meet a lot of resistance.
