Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says he will quit federal politics by the end of the year, sparking a Cabinet reshuffle for the Federal Government.
Senator Cormann is one of the Coalition's most senior figures, leading the Government in the Senate as its chief negotiator.
There had been speculation he was considering his future, and in a statement today he confirmed he intended to resign within the next six months. "Having the opportunity to help shape the future direction of our country as part of a great team working to make our country even stronger, more prosperous and more resilient is a great honour," he said.
