Abbie Smithson, from Haslingden, lost all her belongings in the blaze
A fundraiser has been launched to help four students who lost all of their belongings in a ferocious house fire. Abbie Smithson, 21, from Haslingden was in one of the four bedrooms when she saw smoke coming from her neighbour’s property on Drumcarrow Road in Scotland.
Abbie and her housemates Olivia Frankland and Hannah Craggs managed to escape the fire. Their other housemate, Yuqing Lu was at the library at the time of the incident. The roof has completely collapsed into the bedrooms and the downstairs ceiling has collapsed in and everything is soaked in water. Abbie, who is studying geography, says she has received great support from the community, friends and the university.
