San Jose Home Depot catches on fire, sends up thick plume of smoke
A five-alarm fire erupted Saturday evening at a San Jose Home Depot, sending a thick plume of grey smoke into the air and forcing customers and employees to flee the store.
The San Jose Fire Department tweeted shortly after 6 p.m. that they were responding to a commercial structure fire in the 900 block of Blossom Hill Road. Videos and photos shared on social media showed the Home Depot store located at 920 Blossom Hill Road, which is located in a shopping center across from the Westfield Oakridge Mall, engulfed in flames.
Officials say they have not received any reports of injuries. They are asking members of the public to avoid the area. Other nearby businesses, including the Wagly Veterinary Hospital and Pet Campus located adjacent to the Home Depot, were evacuated Saturday evening out of precaution. Those looking to reunite with pets have been asked to report to the Golfland parking lot at 976 Blossom Hill Road.
