The flames spread to both floors and completely gutted at least one unit.
Fire crews responded from multiple jurisdictions, including the Park Ridge Fire Department and the North Maine Fire Protection District.
CBS 2's Sara Machi talked with a neighbor who was standing outside and watching with friends. She said she had been at home studying around 4 p.m. when she heard an enormous bang.The neighbor said the building that caught fire is a townhome with several units, and one person was walking into the building when the bang rang out.
