Manchester firefighter will be running London Marathon with a brutal twist - all for an incredible cause
A firefighter is embarking on a unique challenge at the London Marathon to support a cause close to his heart.However, he won't just be running the 26-mile route like the thousands of other participants; Garry will be completing the race in full firefighting gear, including breathing apparatus, weighing over 20kg.
Garry's first ever marathon will see him run through the streets of London passing by some of the capital's most recognisable landmarks and finishing on the Mall beside Buckingham Palace. He said: “Recently we lost a much loved member of our family after a long and courageous battle with MND. Garry is hoping that the challenge will not just raise a great amount which can help in the fight against MND but to also celebrate the life of Wendy.
