Firefighters in Eagle County on Tuesday worked on three wildfires and a fourth wildfire is burning in southwestern Colorado near Durango.
On Tuesday afternoon county officials said firefighters doused a tree that caught on fire. The Buckhorn fire was declared “under control” at 3:55 p.m. and it burned about 1/10 of an acre.
Also in Eagle County, the Wapiti fire was reported at 2:04 p.m., officials said. The fire, north of Interstate 70 near Eagle, has burned about 1/10th of an acre. It was declared contained at 2:44 p.m. Smoke from the Twin Butte fire was visible Tuesday in Durango. The fire is burning between Twin Buttes and County Road 206. The fire has burned about 1/2 acre and no structures are threatened. Air resources have been ordered to assist ground crews working on the fire.
