Artist impression images have been released giving a first look at how Rawtenstall town centre could look

Exciting new images showing how Rawtenstall could look following a major transformation have been released. The project aims to make the town centre more welcoming by building on its appearance and enhancing routes.Public consultation sessions, organised by Rossendale Council, are now underway for residents and businesses to learn about the progress of the Rawtenstall Masterplan and influence the plans.

A greener environment could include planting trees along St Mary’s Way, better access to woodland trails and rural cycle ways, and community garden areas. Vehicle movements could be remodelled to making the town more user-friendly and safer for all. Funding is available for some priority projects during the early phase from the government Levelling Up funding to the borough and county, along with extra cash from both councils. More external funding will be sought for further elements in future.

She added: “We hope as many people as possible, residents, businesses, shop retailers or market traders, are able to attend the public drop-in sessions where they will discover the extent of the work being planned and have the opportunity to influence the plans." For Rawtenstall Market, a planning application is expected soon with a main building contractor and designs completed this summer. The new market should be ready by early 2026.
