Reynolds plays the Ebeneezer Scrooge-esque lead, except he seems to be well aware of the original story and makes many references to how his predicament is reminiscent of Dickens' story, while Ferrell's Ghost of Christmas Present seems to be foggy on the particular details. The premise of the film isn't just a new version of the same story, but will focus on Ferrell's Ghost as he examines his own life and the meaning of his existence.
