The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is hosting retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Air Force Col. Eileen Collins for a talk and book signing Sunday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m

Crew members assigned to the STS-63 mission included, from front left, Janice E. Voss, mission specialist; Eileen M. Collins, pilot , James D. Wetherbee, commander; and Vladmir G. Titov . Standing in the rear are mission specialists Bernard A. Harris , and C. Michael Foale. Launched aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery on Feb. 3, 1995, at 12:22:04 a.m., the primary payload for the mission was the SPACEHAB-3.

Collins will also sign copies of her book, “Through the Glass Ceiling to the Stars: The Story of the First American Woman to Command a Space Mission.” Collins flew on four space shuttle missions and was the first woman to pilot a shuttle and command a space mission. Before becoming an astronaut, Collins was an instructor pilot for the Air Force on numerous aircraft.
