The NSW Police Cybercrime Squad has charged five “money mules” after a one-week operation following reports of fraudulent funds from business email compromises allegedly being moved.

Five people have been charged after an operation by the NSW Police Cybercrime Squad uncovered a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in moving millions of fraudulent money.

Three search warrants were executed on Thursday March 7, across Lakemba and Greenacre in Sydney’s southwest and Doonside in Greater Western Sydney. The woman was charged with two counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and participate in a criminal group, while the man was charged with three counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and participate in a criminal group.A 25-year-old man was arrested in Greenacre and charged with nine offences at Bankstown Police Station.
