A mass stabbing has unfolded on Auckland's North Shore leaving five people injured, including the knifeman, on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to Murrays Bay on Auckland’s North Shore on Thursday morning following reports four people had suffered moderate injuries in a stabbing attack.
Police say the offender was on foot attacking residents at random in Murrays Bay before walking towards Mairangi Bay. The alleged offender was reportedly followed by several members of the public who eventually apprehended the man by striking him with a leg crutch. Offer ends 31 October, 2022He has since been taken to hospital with moderate injuries while a large kitchen knife was located on a nearby road.
Waitemata District Commander, Superintendent Naila Hassan said the offender was a local and that the attack was not planned.“He is a local person, he has been out in public, and he has randomly stabbed four members of the public, those members have suffered moderate injuries."“There are members of the public that acted with extreme bravery this morning, they apprehended this offender and brought this incident to its conclusion,” she said.
