Three vehicles were involved in the collision

Five people have been taken to hospital and the A617 remains closed in both directions following an accident near Mansfield. The incident is understood to have been first reported at around 3:45pm today .

Three vehicles were understood to have been involved in the collision on the A617 Marr Road between Mansfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield at 3.20pm . This stretch of the A617 Marr Road reopened at around 9:40pm. Accident investigation work is ongoing between Hamilton Road and the A60 Nottingham. Following the incident, Nottinghamshire Police have arrested two people.

Chief Inspector Neil Humphris, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are at the early stages of our investigation and work is continuing at the scene. The road will remain closed for some time and we ask drivers to find alternative routes. Any witnesses who have yet to speak to us are asked to get in contact by calling 101 and quoting incident number 424 of 19 February 2024.”

According to traffic monitoring site Inrix: "A617 Sherwood Way South in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between Hamilton Road and A60 Nottingham Road. Traffic is coping well. The road remains closed following an incident first reported at around 15:45."
