As the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris officially get under way, I, like many other Australians who perhaps suffer from five-ring fever, are passionately looking forward to this splendid quadrennial celebration of all that is good about sport and human endeavour. Indeed, in such a perpetually bruised world as ours, with multiple manifestations of human suffering in recent times, we desperately need both a physical and emotional salve that will bring catharsis to our troubled minds.
Linda Burney acts as a role model in that journey. Go well minister, and thank you.) reminds us of the greater sophistication of financial scams and how the big four banks have yet to implement an agreed accord to do more to protect and compensate their customers. Last week’s global IT outage demonstrated our vulnerability to electronic financial transfers and convinced me to carry more cash.
