The five people – three of them teenagers – were injured during a crash at traffic lights in Upper Mount Gravatt early on Saturday.

Five young people have been taken to hospital after a two-car collision at traffic lights on Brisbane’s southside early on Saturday.

Paramedics treated six people at the site – on Kessels Road in Upper Mount Gravatt – just after 2.20am before taking five of them to Princess Alexandra Hospital. They included three male teenagers – one with chest and neck injuries, a second with chest injuries, and a third with an arm injury – a man in his 30s with an injured arm, and a woman in her 20s with chest injuries.

Police said one person was initially trapped in a red Ford Ranger utility after it collided with a Subaru Liberty sedan at the Kessels Road intersection with Grout Street. Initial reports suggested the red ute failed to stop to allow the Subaru to complete a U-turn at the intersection, where the speed limit is 60km/h.Get the inside word on the news, sport, food, people and places Brisbane is talking about.
