The migration takes place between November and May each year but experts say flamingos don't often gather in such large numbers. Image: Associated Press

Claims greater extreme weather has caused record insurances losses are 'simply untrue' | Sky News AustraliaThe Insurance Council of Australia has claimed unprecedented extreme weather and record insurance losses as the reason to hike up premiums, but these claims 'are just completely untrue' according to Liberal MP Craig Kelly.\n\nInsurance companies recorded a $4.6 billion loss in 2019, mostly due to the extreme bushfire season, which in 'nominal terms' would make it the worst year on record.\n\nMr Kelly claims year on year comparisons need to be adjusted based on inflation, greater population, and there being more cars, boats, and houses.\n\n'When you look at this current season, which is claimed to be our worst, (it) actually comes in as our seventh or eighth over the last 55 years'.\n\nMr Kelly told Sky News host Andrew Bolt over the 55 year period there has 'been no trend' in terms of greater insurance losses, which disproves the notion that extreme weather is on an upward trend causing greater insurances losses.\n\n'Every time we hear from these global warming alarmists, 'things are getting worse (and) insurance losses are increasing' it is simply untrue'.\n\n'There is simply no trend in greater extreme weather'.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia

Boris Johnson 'made out to be an evil COVID mastermind' | Sky News AustraliaSpiked editor Brendan O’Neill says UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been made out to be 'this evil mastermind who initially wanted to infect the whole population' with COVID-19. \n\nThe United Kingdom has experienced over 26,000 deaths as a result of the deadly coronavirus pandemic so far. \n\n Mr Johnson had initially advocated a herd immunity response to battling the virus in the UK which allowed for a large percentage of the populace to be exposed to the disease, while shielding the most vulnerable in society. \n\nThe move had subsequently been criticised in some circles resulting in widespread, strict coronavirus lockdown measures being enforced in a bid to stem the increasing death toll. \n\nMr O'Neill told Sky News host Andrew Bolt, in fact, 'herd immunity is the thing we all have to go for' as without it the populace will always be susceptible to the disease without a vaccine being developed and implemented. \n\nInstead, he said, 'lockdown fanaticism' took over which led to widespread 'scare-mongering' about the disease. \n\nMr O'Neill said he believes Mr Johnson and his government 'buckled under pressure' by those, especially in the media, who demanded 'a very strict lockdown' to stem COVID-19 in the country. \n\n

Vic Deputy Chief Health Officer prioritises 'woke notoriety' over 'common sense talk' | Sky News AustraliaTasmanian Senator Eric Abetz says the comments of Victorian Deputy Chief Health Officer Annaliese van Diemen comparing Captain Cook to COVID-19 were “ill-informed, ill-timed and terribly ill-advised”.\n\nMr Abetz said the 28th of April was the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook's landing at Botany Bay, 'which was the first step towards the great Australian nation that we now have the privilege of living in”.\n\nTo try and “demean that history” is an attempt to “enhance her wokeness credentials” at the expense of common sense commentary, Mr Abetz said. \n\nMs van Diemen has “strayed way out of her expertise'. \n\nSky News host Peter Gleeson said it was important to remember Ms van Diemen was “a doctor and not a historian”. \n\nHe said, “she should be sacked,” but given the left-leaning nature of the Victorian government “she will probably be promoted”. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia
