NRL: Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has shut down talks of a potential player swap for wantaway star Zac Lomax.

Shane Flanagan has emphatically denied the Dragons are entertaining a player swap for Zac Lomax while also declaring Ben Hunt’s release request last season is “completely different” to the 24-year-old’s current situation. It comes after Roosters coach Trent Robinson also told reporters on Thursday morning that the club had no interest in Lomax despite Joseph Manu and Joseph Suaali’i’s impending exits.

“This is not news. I know you’ve all got jobs to do. This has been going on for weeks and weeks and weeks and all the people I talk to are deadset sick of it — and so am I.” “Ben’s got nothing to do with Zac Lomax. Ben wants to be here. Ben will see out his contract and maybe go further. Don’t confuse the issue with Ben and Zac.When pushed on why the Dragons had granted Lomax’s release request, Flanagan had a simple response.Flanagan though dismissed any talk that there had been “arguments” between the pair, telling reporters “there has been none of that”.

“Zac has made a decision that he wants to leave the club. The club has made a decision to let him go from the last two years. There’s a lot of conversations behind closed doors and we’ll keep them that way. It’s not the first time this has happened and it’s not going to be the last.”
