While rain is easing and rivers are receding in parts of North Queensland, floodwaters persist and the wet weather is expected to continue into the weekend. Residents in some flood-affected areas are still advised not to return home due to ongoing dangers. Heavy rainfall and flooding have forced evacuations and caused significant damage to homes, businesses, and farmland.

"Weather conditions may temporarily ease but it is NOT safe to return due to dangerous flooding. Water in the Ross River is still rising fast and your life may be at risk. Do not return until advised it is safe to do so," the emergency alert issued Monday 8pm said.There has been no update in the Hinchinbrook Shire, with the"take shelter now" and move to higher ground warning from Sunday morning still in place.
