Heavy rainfall continues to hamper recovery efforts in Townsville following recent flash flooding. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited the city, pledging support and announcing the deployment of Chinook helicopters from Singapore to aid relief efforts. Road closures and supply disruptions have been reported throughout North Queensland, with authorities working to restore essential services and infrastructure.

"We've seen half hour falls of 40 or 50 millimetres... particularly the southern suburbs of Townsville, the Stuart Creek alert there was getting around 50mm in the half hour," he said. Mr Albanese said the Ollera Creek bridge needed to be built "back better", after the temporary solution was finished."Don't build it back to the same level, lift the bridge, so that it can withstand a serious flooding event and that is what we will do."
Multiple flood warnings remain in place across north-east Queensland and a major flood warning is still in effect for the Herbert River.Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has visited Ingham, where generators were airlifted to provide essential power while work continued on the substation to restore electricity in the town.
