The escalating weather saw the North Richmond area in Sydney’s north-west particularly under threat, with Cooke warning that Warragamba Dam was spilling at a rate that exceeded the floods in March and April. “With such dangerous conditions on our roads over the next 24 hours, if you don’t need to travel, please don’t,” Cooke said.
“It was a long night last night. It’s been a very long day today, and tonight will be another long night for our emergency services workers and our volunteers.”
