More than a dozen people have been rescued from floodwaters overnight, while 12 evacuation orders are in place along the Hawkesbury River.
Floodwaters in Sydney’s north-west are rising and 12 evacuation orders along the Hawkesbury River are in place following days of heavy rain.
The bureau said the Hawkesbury River at North Richmond may exceed the major flood level of 10.5 metres by Saturday morning and peak near 11 metres on Saturday afternoon. The North Richmond Bridge is closed. The river at Windsor was at 8.15 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level, and may peak about 8.3 metres early Saturday afternoon.
Minor flooding is peaking along the Nepean River at Penrith and is possible along the Hawkesbury River at Sackville.
