Roy Anthony Flores Jr., 18, was charged with murder in connection with the death of 19-year-old Joe Romero Bonilla, court records show. Flores is being held on $250,000 bail. Just before 11 p.m. on Feb. 21, San Antonio police were called to a Walmart on Southeast Military Drive for a shooting in progress. In the middle of the parking lot, officers found Bonilla with several gunshot and stab wounds, according to an affidavit supporting Flores' arrest.Surveillance video from the Walmart showed Bonilla pull into the parking lot next to another vehicle, the affidavit said. Bonilla is seen getting out of his car and entering the other vehicle via a rear door.
Upon searching Bonilla’s cellphone, investigators learned that he was planning to meet Flores at the Walmart for a drug deal but that Bonilla intended to rob Flores during the deal, the affidavit said. Wilson County deputies found the vehicle from the video abandoned with blood and rifle shell casings in the rear seat. As officials searched the vehicle, they also found documents with Flores' name on them and a kitchen knife in the driver’s side door pocket.
