Florida graduate student Trinity Thomas scored a perfect 10.0 on the final vault of her college gymnastics career Saturday. The 10.0 was the 28th perfect mark of Thomas’ career, placing her in a three-way tie for most 10.0s in NCAA history.
Thomas scored eight perfect 10.0s this season, including two at the SEC championship on uneven bars and floor exercise.Thomas tied the NCAA record by nailing a Yurchenko 1.5 on vault. It’s a skill that requires a gymnast to do a roundoff onto the springboard, launch her body backward onto the vault table, then push off the table to flip once and twist 540 degrees while maintaining a completely laid-out position.
“It’s just been the best time of my life, honestly,” she said. “The fifth year has been a blessing, and I’m going to miss gymnastics so much.
