Laundrie was named a person of interest in the disappearance of Petito, 22, last week. The couple had been on a cross-country road trip prior to Petito being reported missing.in Denver confirmed on Tuesday that a body found near Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park was Petito's. According to police, Laundrie returned to his parent's home in North Port, Florida, ten days prior to when Petito's family reported her disappearance.
Petito's body was first found on Sunday, when the FBI in Denver announced that they found human remains"consistent" with the description of the missing 22-year-old. On Tuesday, the FBI announced that Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue ruled the manner of death as a"homicide."Before he disappeared, Laundrie did not speak with authorities about Petito's case.
On September 20, the FBI in Tampa announced that it was executing a"court-authorized search warrant" of the residence of Laundrie's parents, but it did not provide any further information following the search.reached out to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office for further comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
