Arguing that the provincial retailer was making a dent in the illicit market, the agency’s quarterly report at the time noted its average price for dried flower per gram for Apr. 1 through June 30 was $7.05, including taxes. That compared to an average of $7.98 on illicit mail-order sites. The most recent study concludes weed prices and purchase behaviours are strongly influenced by marijuana’s legal status and presence of stores. It does, however, take several years after adult-use cannabis is legalized “for the legal market to become established as the number of retail stores increase and prices decrease.”Article content
