Israel Folau and Rugby Australia have reached a confidential settlement in their long running dispute over Folau's controversial social media posts.
Folau's contract was terminated after he sparked outrage with an Instagram post that claimed "hell awaits" drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters, should the "sinners" fail to "repent". "The social media post reflected Mr Folau's genuinely held religious beliefs, and Mr Folau did not intend to harm or offend any person when he uploaded the social media post," the statement said.
