It's kicking off
A petition war has broken out over the use of a shed in front of a terraced house in Blackburn as a food bank.
Supporters of the food bank have submitted a 204 signature petition supporting keeping the food bank. It says: “There is a great need within our community located within the Audley and Queens Park ward with regard to food poverty and the higher rise in housing living cost. A letter with the supportive petition says: “The shed has been put up to rescue surplus foods rescued from branded supermarkets within Blackburn with Darwen and Lancashire-wide that would usually be thrown into waste when the stores close. The surplus foods are made up of breads, fruits, vegetables and at times ready meals that have passed their best before dates.
